Confusion in Lebanon as Two Official Time Zones Announced

The Confusion of the Lebanese People with the Announcement of Two Official Times

Following Miqati’s announcement to postpone the change of official time until after Ramadan, people are dealing with two different times. Christian institutions and some businesses have moved their clocks forward according to the European standard, causing confusion among the people and the business community.

Due to political disagreements over the country’s official time in Lebanon, the people and economic activists are experiencing confusion.

Following the decision by Najib Miqati, the Prime Minister of Lebanon, the country’s official time will be changed after Ramadan to save energy, allowing the Muslim population of Lebanon to break their fast an hour earlier.

Najib Miqati’s office announced on Thursday, March 23, that the country’s official time will be moved forward by one hour on April 20 at the end of Ramadan.

While the Prime Minister of Lebanon has not provided a reason for this change, some observers believe that Miqati made this decision to gain more popularity among Muslims.
