Consecutive Gas Consumption Records in Iran

The continuation of cold weather and snowfall across most of Iran has led to consecutive records in gas consumption and warnings from officials to conserve.

At the same time, all schools in the central provinces of South Khorasan and Hamadan, as well as schools in some cities in the provinces of Qazvin, Gilan, Alborz, Tehran, and Ardabil, were announced to be remote on Wednesday, February 28th.

Hossein Zafari, the spokesperson for the National Crisis Management Organization, announced on Wednesday that since the precipitation and cold weather will persist for the next two days, all provinces are on alert.

In the past two days, officials have repeatedly warned about managing gas consumption, especially in industrial centers. Nevertheless, the ongoing cold has caused daily new records in gas consumption in the country.

The director of coordination for gas supply affairs at the National Iranian Gas Company reported a new record in natural gas consumption this year, stating that gas consumption has reached over 670 million cubic meters per day.
