Continuation of poisonings in schools of Tabriz, Urmia, and Isfahan

Following the chemical attacks on girls’ schools that began in December 2022, Iranian domestic news agencies confirmed at least two more cases of poisoning of female students on Tuesday, April 4.

Asghar Jafari, head of the East Azerbaijan Province emergency services, reported the transfer of 20 female students from Tabriz to the hospital with symptoms of chemical poisoning, including respiratory issues and shortness of breath.

The Isfahan University of Medical Sciences also confirmed, in a news report published by Rokna news agency, the transfer of an unspecified number of female students from a school in the Dolatabad area of Isfahan to the hospital due to feeling unwell.

Some unofficial reports have also mentioned a chemical attack on Hamzeh Heshmati Primary School in Urmia.

In the first reported case of 2023, on Monday, April 3, five female students from the 22 Bahman School located in Mohammadyar district of Naqadeh County were targeted by a chemical attack and transferred to the hospital.
