Country Traffic Police Commander: 373 Killed and 10,500 Injured in Nowruz Accidents

The National Traffic Police Commander: 373 people died and 10,500 were injured in Nowruz accidents

The National Traffic Police Commander stated that unfortunately, since the beginning of the Nowruz plan, we have lost 373 of our compatriots in accidents. He mentioned that this number will certainly increase because some of the injured, who are in hospitals, may unfortunately pass away and be added to this statistic.

He continued, noting that over 10,500 of our compatriots have been injured in these few days, and approximately 15 to 20 percent of these injured individuals may become disabled. Therefore, I urge Nowruz travelers to definitely follow the rules.

Momeni pointed out that 44 percent of the accidents during this period were due to not paying attention to the road ahead. He said part of this inattentiveness is related to the use of mobile phones while driving, as unfortunately, drivers use their phones while driving. Additionally, 30 percent of accidents on the roads were rollovers, which are caused by fatigue, drowsiness, lack of sufficient rest, and speeding while driving.
