César Academy: Entry of Sexual Assault Accused Individuals is Banned from This Year’s Ceremony

César Award Winners at the 2022 Ceremony: The French César Academy, equivalent to the Oscars, announced that out of respect for sexual assault victims, anyone facing potential imprisonment on sexual assault charges will not be allowed to attend the ceremony.

The César Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place next month.

As a result, the ceremony will proceed without the presence of Sofiane Bennacer, as his case is under investigation for allegations of rape, which he denies.

There was a concern that Mr. Bennacer’s presence at the César Awards ceremony might lead to the attendance of protesters.
