Cultural Commission Member: Financial Penalty for Unveiled Women is More Deterrent

A member of the Parliament’s Cultural Commission says financial penalties for those without hijab are more deterrent.

Bankipour, a member of the Parliament’s Cultural Commission, mentioned regarding the fines for not wearing a hijab that for the first offense, a fine of 3 million tomans has been set because many people initially do not understand what the issue is, and going directly to court would give it a criminal aspect, which does not reflect well on the individual.

Therefore, the Judicial Commission concluded that initially, there should be a 3 million toman fine, and for the second offense, it should go to court where the penalty becomes 24 million tomans.

Financial penalties for those without hijab are more deterrent and have lower social costs.
