Cultural Heritage of Sistan and Baluchestan: Flood Damaged 37 Historical Buildings
Mojtaba Sa’adatian, Deputy of Cultural Heritage at the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Sistan and Baluchestan, has stated that recent rains and flooding have caused damage to 37 castles, buildings, and historical textures.
In an interview with IRNA, he described the damage assessment of these structures as general and explained that a complete field presence of experts and evaluators has not yet been possible. However, the information received and initial assessments indicate that these structures have suffered between 10 to 40 percent damage.
He announced that the damage to the Suro and Shishariz tombs in Golshan Castle, Kent Saravan, and Anushiravan Castle in Chabahar is 30 percent, and stated that the damage includes the destruction of mud plaster, wall collapses, and water and moisture infiltration into these sites.
According to him, the castles of Heydarabad, Khash, Rostam in Hamun County, Qasr-e Qand, Sarbaz, Kent, and Dezak Saravan, the Portuguese castle of Tis, Naseri Iranshahr, Bampur, Seh Kooh-e Hamun, Sab in Sib and Soran, Espakeh Nikshahr, and Hootan Park Castle in Konarak are also among the castles that have suffered significant damage.
