Debate between two forces over the modesty and hijab bill
The uncertain fate of the controversial bill in the 11th Parliament
Donyaye Eghtesad newspaper, in a report, has addressed the recent dispute between the judiciary and the government over the hijab bill. The report states that if the Parliament addresses all the objections of the Guardian Council to the hijab bill before reviewing the budget bill, and if this bill also passes the approval process of the Guardian Council, it will create new challenges for its implementers in terms of its enforcement as a law.
Some members of Parliament believe that due to the volume of objections and ambiguities raised by the Guardian Council, the bill should be sent back to the Parliament. On Friday, Jalal Rashidikouchi, a member of the Commission on Councils and Internal Affairs, had also stated in an interview with Donyaye Eghtesad that the objections made by the Guardian Council to the modesty and hijab bill are numerous, with about 100 objections regarding its wording and essence.
Many argue that even if the Parliament addresses all the objections of the Guardian Council before reviewing the budget bill, and the modesty and hijab bill passes the approval process of the Guardian Council, its enforcement as a law will create new challenges for its implementers.
