Decline in Cinema Audience Statistics in Iran

The statistical report on the audience of films screened in 2022 in Iranian cinemas shows that only about 13.5 million people went to the cinema this year.

In 2022, about 50 films were released in cinemas. The sales of films saw a significant decrease from the start of the ‘Women, Life, Freedom’ protests in late September and could not reach the sales figures of August by the end of the year. Among these, the total audience for 10 films screened in this year did not even reach 10,000 people.

The cinema audience statistics for 2022, despite an increase compared to the audience numbers in 2020 and 2021, still show a significant decline compared to the audience numbers in the mid-2010s.
