Defendants in Evin Prison Fire Case Sentenced to 265 Years in Prison

The defendants in the Evin Prison fire case were sentenced to 265 years in prison.

According to Mizan, the official news agency of the judiciary, based on the verdict issued by Branch Two of the Tehran Criminal Court for the Evin Prison fire case, 40 defendants in this case were collectively sentenced to 265 years in prison, 5,032 lashes, blood money equivalent to one full human life, and additional penalties by Branch 1148 of the Tehran Criminal Court Two.

According to the Hrana news agency, the ruling issued by Branch 1148 of the Tehran Criminal Court Two, presided over by Judge Jabar Javadi Rami, and communicated to the defendants, these forty prisoners were collectively sentenced to 265 years in prison, 5,032 lashes, payment of blood money equivalent to one full human life, and deportation from Iran for charges including property destruction, disrupting prison order, insubordination and defiance of officers’ orders, and manslaughter.

Currently, these 40 prisoners are serving sentences related to their previous cases in the Greater Tehran and Ghezel Hesar prisons in Karaj.
