Denial of direct contact between Blinken and Amir-Abdollahian regarding the Evin Prison fire

An informed source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied the statements made by a member of parliament quoting the Foreign Minister regarding the Evin Prison fire, and said that the direct contact between Blinken and Amir-Abdollahian is fundamentally untrue.

Previously, media outlets had quoted Javad Nikbin, a member of the Cultural Commission of Parliament, as saying that Blinken, the US Secretary of State, had called the Iranian Foreign Minister directly 40 minutes before the incident at Evin, asking for the protection of the lives of 4 prisoners linked to the US in Evin.
