Denmark joins the international coalition to reopen the Strait of Hormuz
The Danish government announced that it will join the international coalition led by the United Kingdom and France to help reopen and secure the Strait of Hormuz.
Danish Defense Minister Jeppe Bruus said that his country’s participation would include sending translators, drone capabilities, specialized forces, and possibly cyber support, but did not provide further details.
According to a bill presented to the Danish parliament, the mission’s goal is to strengthen maritime security and ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, the Red Sea, and surrounding waterways.
The United Kingdom and France, along with several other countries, had previously proposed the formation of an international mission to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz and ensure the security of shipping in this strategic passage.
France has emphasized that this mission is not aimed at establishing a permanent military presence in the region and should be conducted within a framework coordinated with Iran to maintain the security of shipping.
