Reaction of the Deputy Minister of Energy to Netanyahu: All desalination technologies are available within Iran
The Deputy Minister of Energy for Water and Wastewater Affairs, in response to the Israeli Prime Minister’s remarks about helping to solve Iran’s water shortage problem, said that all technologies related to building desalination plants are available in our country, and there is no need for anything from outside Iran.
These remarks come as millions of Iranians in various parts of the country are facing a water crisis and frequent drinking water outages, and water transfer projects have repeatedly faced widespread public protests.
Mohammad Javanbakht, describing Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments as political, emphasized that the Islamic Republic has five main water transfer lines from the south to the center of Iran, and it is planned to multiply this capacity. He also admitted that economic issues are a significant challenge in constructing desalination plants.
In recent years, a lack of infrastructure, mismanagement, and widespread corruption have turned the water crisis in Iran into one of the most serious threats to citizens’ lives, a situation that, contrary to the claims of Islamic Republic officials, continues to worsen.
