Deputy Minister of Interior: Restaurants are not allowed to operate before Iftar

The Deputy Minister of Security and Law Enforcement of the Interior Ministry, referring to the operation of some restaurants and cafes during Ramadan, stated that these places are absolutely not allowed to provide services before Iftar, and any permit to operate with covered windows is invalid.

Majid Mir Ahmadi, referring to the operation of some restaurants during the holy month of Ramadan and their in-person services, added that as stated in the sacred law of Islam, eating during fasting hours for those eligible to fast is a prohibited act, and even the pretense of eating during fasting is also prohibited. In the Islamic Penal Code, article 638 criminalizes and prescribes punishments for those who pretend to eat during fasting.

He stated that restaurants, cafes, coffeehouses, and food outlets located within the city are absolutely not allowed to operate before Iftar. He noted that there was sometimes the misconception that they could provide services by covering windows and creating concealment inside the premises. There is absolutely no such permit, and if anyone mistakenly believed they had a permit in this regard, it is invalid.

Mir Ahmadi emphasized that unions and associations are also not allowed to issue such permits, and naturally, the police should monitor the illegal activities of these places. If such violations exist, they should be dealt with according to the law.
