Deputy of Tehran's Crisis Management: Donyaye Noor Shopping Center Closed Due to Safety Issues

The Deputy Head of Tehran’s Crisis Management sealed the Donyaye Noor shopping center due to safety issues.

Media in Iran have reported that the Donyaye Noor shopping center in eastern Tehran has been sealed by the capital’s municipality due to safety issues.

Hamid Salimi, Deputy Head of Prevention and Risk Reduction at Tehran’s Crisis Prevention and Management Organization, told ISNA news agency on Sunday, February 18, that in order to protect public rights and enhance the safety of high-risk buildings, the unsafe and busy commercial building Donyaye Noor on the Shahid Soleimani highway has been sealed.

According to Mr. Salimi, this building was identified as a high-risk and unsafe structure several months ago, and repeated warnings were given to the building owner to mitigate the risks, but no action was taken in this regard, leading to a judicial order to seal the building.

Mehdi Babaei, Head of the Safety Committee of Tehran’s City Council, had previously stated that 75 unsafe buildings in the capital are in a critical condition and should be prioritized for safety improvements.
