Deputy of the Judiciary: We do not recognize the fact-finding committee
Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy for International Affairs of the Judiciary and Secretary of the Human Rights Headquarters, while explaining the Iranian delegation’s programs in the Human Rights Council meetings, said that in 2023, the UN Human Rights Council, by moving in the direction of the political and mostly illegitimate demands of Western countries, has caused more suffering to the victims of human rights violations and has turned into a tool for political interventions.
The Secretary of the Human Rights Headquarters, referring to the fact that we will present our evidence and the results of the President’s selected committee in the Human Rights Council meeting to counter the so-called fact-finding report, stated that at the same time, we will also emphasize that political actions cannot cover the realities of the issue.
He emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran does not recognize the so-called fact-finding committee, which was created in a political process by the Human Rights Council last year, stating that we have clearly declared this position because Iran itself responsibly deals with the events that occurred as a result of last year’s unrest in the country. The President has also appointed a national committee to investigate the unrest of 2022.
Officials of the Islamic Republic use the term ‘unrest’ for last year’s public protests.
