Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council: We are ready to assist Iran and the USA in reaching an agreement
Alexander Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council, said on Wednesday evening that Russia is ready to provide the necessary assistance to achieve beneficial bilateral agreements regarding Iran’s nuclear program and in the current stage of talks between Iran and the United States.
Venediktov told the Russian news agency RIA Novosti that unfortunately, not everyone in the United States agrees on finding a peaceful solution for Iran.
We hope common sense will prevail. Russia is ready to provide the necessary assistance to achieve beneficial bilateral agreements around Iran’s nuclear program and in the current stage of talks between Iran and the United States.
He noted that the Russian side has made a significant contribution to the development of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) concluded in 2015, as part of multilateral efforts to revive the Iran nuclear agreement.
In this regard, the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation added that we have the relevant experience.
Venediktov also emphasized that we hope Tehran and Washington can find solutions to reduce tensions and lift unilateral sanctions against Iran.
At the same time, we adhere to the fact that the European troika will refrain from provocative actions, including ultimatum language and undue pressure.
His statements come as the Omani Foreign Minister said the fifth round of Iran-U.S. talks will be held on Friday.
