Destruction and silence have engulfed Kyiv.
The heaviest missile attacks by the Russian army have targeted various cities in Ukraine, especially the capital of the country, and unprecedented widespread destruction has been reported in Kyiv with the destruction of vital infrastructure and the annihilation of power supply facilities, leaving two-thirds of the city in darkness.
Vitaliy Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, has announced that Ukrainian technicians have done everything within their power; however, given the ongoing attacks and the current state of available resources, there is little more they can do.
European officials are striving to assist Ukrainians in these tough conditions. With power cuts and the lack of heating facilities, serious dangers threaten Ukrainian citizens in temperatures below minus twenty degrees. The cooperation group of major European cities’ municipalities, in collaboration with the European Parliament, plans to implement the dispatch of hundreds of generators to Ukraine. These generators will only meet a part of the Ukrainians’ needs.
