Destruction of 2,500 Historical Sites in Shiraz Due to the Shah Cheragh Expansion

The organized destruction in the historical fabric of Shiraz for the expansion of the Shah Cheragh shrine has accelerated.

Bulldozers and loaders have been demolishing and clearing away historical buildings since Monday, February 6.

The aim of these demolitions is to expand the precinct of Shah Cheragh as a center for promoting Shiism in southern Iran.

In this plan, which is being implemented under the direct supervision of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, the construction of a pilgrim residence, buildings to provide services to pilgrims, and several religious complexes are envisioned.

It is planned to connect the Shah Cheragh shrine to the Imamzadeh Ibrahim shrine and the Seyed Alaeddin Hossein shrine by extensively demolishing the historical fabric of Shiraz.
