The Difference Between OPEC Statistics and the Claimed Figure by the Deputy Oil Minister on Oil Production

New OPEC statistics show that Iran’s oil production is much lower than the figure recently mentioned by the Deputy Oil Minister of the Islamic Republic.

Mohsen Khojastehmehr, the Deputy Oil Minister, recently claimed that oil production in the country would increase by 250,000 barrels and reach 3.5 million barrels per day by the end of September this year.

Thus, the current oil production in the country is 3.25 million barrels per day.

However, new OPEC statistics show this figure is only 2.828 million barrels, which is a difference of 422,000 barrels from the statements of the Deputy Oil Minister.

According to new OPEC statistics published on August 10, Iran’s daily oil production increased by 274,000 barrels during the first seven months of 2023 and is still one million barrels less than the 3.8 million barrels production level of Iran before the US sanctions.
