Varied Reactions to the News of Reza Pahlavi’s Trip to Israel

Reza Pahlavi, the former Crown Prince of Iran and a well-known opponent of the Islamic Republic, has announced that he plans to visit Israel and meet with officials of the country.

Prince Reza Pahlavi has stated that he is traveling to Israel to convey a message of friendship from the Iranian people, to speak with Israeli water experts, and to pay respects to Holocaust victims.

The official Twitter account of the Israeli government and the country’s Minister of Intelligence have welcomed the news of Mr. Pahlavi’s visit to Israel.

Gila Gamliel, Israel’s Minister of Intelligence and Mr. Pahlavi’s host for this trip, described the visit as historic in a tweet in Hebrew, calling it a first step towards establishing new ties between the two countries.

Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, responded to a question about Prince Reza Pahlavi’s visit to Israel on Monday by saying that the person you mentioned, neither he nor his trip, nor the place he intends to visit, is significant enough for me to take a position on from this platform.

The announcement of this trip has sparked a variety of positive and negative reactions on social media.
