Discovery of a 1,200-year-old tomb filled with gold in Panama
The Ministry of Culture of Panama has announced that an ancient tomb filled with gold and jewels has been found in an archaeological park in the country.
It is believed that in this tomb, located in the El Caño archaeological park and dating back to the 8th century AD, a noble ruler was buried.
Alongside this local ruler, the remains of dozens of people who were sacrificed to accompany him in the afterlife have also been discovered.
Archaeologists have found a collection of gold treasures inside this tomb, including bracelets, two belts with gold beads, crocodile-shaped earrings, whale tooth earrings with gold covering, and round golden plaques.
