Discovery of a large lithium reserve in the west of the country
Iran announced the discovery of a large lithium reserve in the west of the country, which is considered the main material in the production of batteries for electric vehicles and electronic devices.
Ebrahim Ali Moulabeygi, an official from Iran’s Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade, said that for the first time, a lithium reserve has been discovered in the country, in the Hamadan province, which promises the discovery of other reserves in this province.
According to the Director General of the Office of Exploration Affairs at the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade, the confirmed reserve amount in the mentioned area is eight million and 500 thousand tons of lithium ore.
Lithium, referred to as the oil of the 21st century, is used in the production of batteries for electric cars, and since various countries have extensive plans to reduce and ultimately eliminate carbon dioxide emissions from gasoline-powered vehicles, the discovery of lithium reserves becomes very significant.
This white metal is also a primary material for producing rechargeable batteries for mobile phones and other electronic devices.
