Dismissal of several polling station members in Gilan due to bias towards a candidate

The head of the election inspection in Gilan province says that several members of a polling station were dismissed due to bias towards a candidate.

This inspection official did not mention on behalf of which candidate the mentioned individuals were campaigning or in which city or village’s polling station.

In recent days, supporters of Masoud Pezeshkian, the reformist candidate, had protested to Ebrahim Raisi’s government officials, claiming that some government officials were using their resources to campaign for a specific candidate and had gathered village heads from across the country where the campaign manager of one candidate gave a speech.

Their reference was to the speech by Mohsen Mansouri, the campaign manager for Saeed Jalili.

Despite numerous reports of government officials’ interference in favor of Mr. Jalili in the second round of elections, the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic has shown no reaction to these violations.

The spokesperson for the Guardian Council only stated that the reports sent by the public and candidates must be documented to be eligible for follow-up.
