Dispute Between Two Powers Over the Modesty and Hijab Bill
Uncertain Fate of the Controversial Bill of the Eleventh Parliament
The Donya-e-Eqtesad newspaper, in a report, addressed the recent dispute between the judiciary and the government over the hijab bill, stating that even if the parliament fully addresses the Guardian Council’s objections to the hijab bill before reviewing the budget bill, and this bill passes the Guardian Council’s approval, its implementation as a law will create new challenges for its executors.
Some parliament members believe that due to the volume of objections and ambiguities, the Guardian Council will send the bill back to parliament. On Thursday, Jalal Rashidi Koichi, a member of the Councils and Internal Affairs Commission in parliament, also told Donya-e-Eqtesad that the objections raised by the Guardian Council to the modesty and hijab bill are numerous, with approximately 100 written and substantive issues.
Many believe that even if the parliament fully addresses the Guardian Council’s objections before reviewing the budget bill, and the modesty and hijab bill passes the Guardian Council’s approval, its implementation as a law will create new challenges for its executors.
