Donald Trump accuses Ukrainian leaders of being ungrateful for our efforts
While intense negotiations continue in Geneva among representatives from the US, Europe, Ukraine, and Russia to review Washington’s plan aimed at ending the Ukraine war, US President Donald Trump made an unprecedented statement sharply criticizing Kyiv.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote that Ukrainian leaders are ungrateful for our efforts, and Europe continues to buy oil from Russia.
He added, referring to the legacy inherited from the previous administration, ‘I inherited a war that should never have started, a war in which everyone loses, especially the millions who have needlessly lost their lives.’
Trump’s statements come as Ukraine and its European allies have expressed concerns about Washington’s proposed plan, which meets some of Moscow’s key demands, including preventing Ukraine from joining NATO.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has announced that he doubts an agreement will be reached by the deadline set by Trump — Thursday.
