Donation of one million monkeypox vaccines from the US to African countries

Joe Biden, the President of the United States, announced on Tuesday, September 25, that he intends to donate one million doses of the monkeypox vaccine to African countries facing an outbreak of this virus.

The World Health Organization declared an international emergency last month after an increase in cases of a new type of monkeypox in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which also spread to neighboring countries.

Biden said at the United Nations General Assembly in New York that we must act quickly to combat the spread of monkeypox in Africa. We are ready to allocate 500 million dollars to help African countries in the fight and prevention of this disease.

Biden called on other countries to join this commitment and raise the amount of aid to one billion dollars.
