Due to certain sensitivities, the text of the memorandum of understanding with Iran has not yet been released.
J.D. Vance, the Vice President of the United States, announced that the text of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States has not yet been released because the U.S. government needs to manage its release while considering certain diplomatic considerations.
In a conversation with Megyn Kelly, he said that some sensitive diplomatic issues are at play, and the Iranians, as well as some of our mediators including the Pakistanis and Qataris, have asked us to proceed with this process correctly.
Vance added that he doesn’t fully understand the reason for this confidentiality, but he mentioned there are sensitivities in the Arab and Muslim world that we are trying to be considerate of.
The U.S. Vice President also emphasized that if the negotiations fail, Washington still sees itself in a strong position.
He said if they remain committed to the agreement, it would be much better for the U.S. and Iran, but if they do not, the straits will still remain open. We have caused significant damage to their nuclear program and can continue on our path.
Vance’s remarks come as Donald Trump announced a few hours ago that the understanding with Iran has entered a second phase, a phase that is supposed to focus on Iran’s nuclear program and enriched uranium reserves over the next 60 days.
