Dutch newspaper: A Dutchman was responsible for introducing Stuxnet into Natanz
The Dutch newspaper Volkskrant reported on Monday, January 8, that the Stuxnet computer virus, which disrupted the operations of the Natanz nuclear facility in Iran in 2010, was planted there by a Dutch engineer.
Volkskrant writes that according to the newspaper’s investigations, an engineer named Eric van Sapin, who worked for the Dutch intelligence agency, infiltrated the underground nuclear complex in Natanz in 2007 and installed equipment infected with this highly sophisticated malware.
According to Volkskrant, reports indicate that in this operation, led by the United States and Israel, more than one billion dollars were spent on developing this malware, and Eric van Sapin likely installed it in a water pump in Natanz.
