Dutch Tech Company Permitted Not to Hire Iranians

Dutch computer industry company allowed not to hire Iranians

After the announcement by the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights that the Dutch company ASML is permitted to reject job applications based on nationality, the company welcomed this decision on Monday, June 26.

This week, the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights confirmed that ASML is allowed to reject job applications from Iran, Syria, Cuba, and North Korea, which might have access to sensitive U.S. technologies, even if this action does not comply with Dutch laws.

ASML, based in Veldhoven, Netherlands, is one of the main manufacturers of semiconductor and computer chip equipment in the world, employing over 31,000 people from 120 different nationalities.
