Coinciding with the Chaharshanbe Suri celebration on the last Wednesday night of the year, Iranian media, quoting local officials in various cities, report that schools will close earlier than usual today.

The Iranian Police Command has also announced that individuals arrested on Chaharshanbe Suri night for disturbing public peace and disrupting social order will be held in custody until April 4th.

Yesterday, Abbasali Mohammadian, the Tehran Police Commander, stated that to control potential incidents, the police will utilize mosques and community groups.
