Ebrahim Bay Salami: The university is controlled by security and protective forces
Ebrahim Bay Salami, a sociologist and former faculty member of the University of Tehran, mentioned in an interview with Khabar Online on Thursday, March 14th, that he was dismissed from the university in February 2023. He stated that the university is now managed by security and protective forces, and the university president follows the orders of individuals who have no understanding of the academic and scientific environment.
Bay Salami further explained that he was dismissed at a time when he and other colleagues were summoned to the university’s board in November 2022 to explain why they had signed a protest letter defending students’ rights.
According to him, that letter was signed by 57 professors from the University of Tehran.
Bay Salami, stating that he spoke in defense of students’ rights in the presence of some professors who were protesting the events from October to February 2023, added that he reminded the board about the harassment and imprisonment of some students and their rights by naming the students. He respectfully objected to the president of the University of Tehran and the behavior of his student affairs deputy.
