Egypt: Our Relations with Iran Depend on Tehran-Riyadh Relations Developments

Egypt’s ties with Iran depend on the developments in Tehran-Riyadh relations

The Egyptian Foreign Minister says the developments in Tehran-Riyadh relations are very important, and Cairo’s expansion of relations with Iran depends on these developments.

Sameh Shoukry, who has traveled to Turkey, said in a press conference on Friday, April 14, that Cairo will assess the recent developments in Riyadh-Tehran relations, and the upcoming Arab countries’ meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is also a good opportunity to evaluate its advantages.

He added that Egypt will assess the recent developments between Iran and Saudi Arabia and will take steps based on this assessment.

Egypt is considered a close ally of Saudi Arabia, while Iran and Egypt have not had diplomatic relations since 1979. Additionally, beyond regional disagreements, Egypt has repeatedly accused Iran of attempting to promote Shia Islam in the country.
