Eid al-Fitr message from Ashraf Ghani: Taliban leaders have become the wealthiest individuals

Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the former president of Afghanistan, in an unprecedented Eid al-Fitr message, criticized the Taliban, stating that Taliban leaders have become the wealthiest individuals in the history of rebellious movements.

He said that while widespread poverty prevails in the country, the wealth of Taliban leaders is accumulated not only through illegal seizure of national revenues but also through arms and drug trafficking.

He described the Taliban as a group that has taken Afghans hostage in the name of the sacred religion of Islam.

However, Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the Taliban’s prime minister, in an Eid al-Fitr congratulatory message, described the Taliban as a system serving the nation and stated that the reconstruction and self-sufficiency of the country are among the priorities of the Islamic Emirate of the Taliban.
