Eli Cohen Opened the Closest Israeli Embassy to Iran

Eli Cohen opened the closest Israeli embassy to Iran

Eli Cohen, Israel’s Foreign Minister, has inaugurated the country’s permanent embassy in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

This is the closest Israeli diplomatic mission to Iran, with Ashgabat being less than 50 kilometers from the Iranian border.

Israel and Turkmenistan have had diplomatic relations for 30 years, but until now, only a temporary diplomatic delegation from Israel was present in Turkmenistan.

The opening of the Israeli embassy in Ashgabat is another step in the country’s proximity to Iran’s neighbors.

Israel has established diplomatic relations with several Arab countries, and recently, Azerbaijan, which already had relations with Israel, has expanded its ties.
