Elon Musk has received approval to implant a chip in the human brain

Neuralink, a company based in San Francisco, USA, owned by Elon Musk, announced on Tuesday that it has received approval from an independent expert council to implant a chip in the human brain. Neuralink aims to help individuals with brain deficiencies by placing a chip in the brain, enabling them to move and communicate with their environment and others.

Another goal of implanting this chip in the human brain is to allow control of computers through brain activity. The company initially conducted its tests on a monkey and then on a pig.

Now, The Guardian newspaper has written that Neuralink is currently seeking volunteers with paralysis to participate in a six-year human trial of this project.

Neuralink has announced that it is looking for patients who have become quadriplegic or completely paralyzed due to spinal cord injury. A chip is to be implanted in the part of the volunteers’ brains responsible for movement control, enabling them to, for example, type on a keyboard just by thinking.
