Emphasis by the Head of Yazd Judiciary on Supporting Promoters of Virtue

The head of Yazd Judiciary, in a meeting with the members of the Promotion of Virtue Committee and a group claiming to verbally remind women about hijab on the streets, stated that the promoters of virtue are supported by the judicial system.

In this meeting, Gholamali Dehshiri claimed that verbal reminders during the Nowruz holidays received positive feedback among the people, and the promoters of virtue should be thanked for this.

These statements come while there have been reports of conflicts over mandatory hijab in the city of Yazd during the Nowruz holidays. In one of these cases, the Yazd Promotion of Virtue Committee reported the arrest of three individuals, claiming that the arrested individuals got into a physical altercation with a woman and her daughter following a reminder from the woman to observe hijab.
