Erdogan and Putin Agree on Ukrainian Grain Exports

Erdogan and Putin are in agreement on Ukrainian grain exports

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, said on Friday that he agrees with Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, on extending the agreement for Ukrainian grain exports via the Black Sea. Erdogan expressed hope that this agreement would be extended again after its current deadline on July 17, with the efforts of the United Nations and Turkey.

However, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, told reporters on Friday that Vladimir Putin has no plans for a phone conversation with Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the coming days, although a call might be scheduled if necessary.

The initiative known as the Black Sea Grain Initiative was brokered by the United Nations and Turkey in July 2022 between Russia and Ukraine.

Ukraine and Russia are among the leading grain exporters in the world. Putin believes that the grain deal is a one-sided game and that none of the agreement’s elements related to Russia’s interests have been implemented so far.
