Erdogan Expresses Concern Over Rising Racism in Germany

Erdogan expressed concern about the rise of racism in Germany

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, accused the West of turning a blind eye to the suffering of civilians in the Gaza Strip during the visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Turkey.

Erdogan said our German friends should see this tragic situation; Gaza has been leveled to the ground.

The Turkish President also expressed concern about the rise of racism in Germany.

Germany and Turkey have different stances on the Middle East conflict. The German side has criticized Erdogan’s view of Hamas, which the Turkish President describes as a liberation organization.

Erdogan has close relations with Hamas; he met with Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, last week.
