Erdogan issued the order to hold elections

The President of Turkey, by signing a decree, ordered that the general elections in Turkey be held on May 14, 2023 (24th of Ordibehesht, 1402).

The Turkish opposition introduced their candidate for the Turkish presidential elections last week.

Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the leader of the Republican People’s Party of Turkey, is set to compete against Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of the country, in the elections on May 14. Western media refer to him as the ‘Gandhi of Turkey’.
