Erdogan of Turkey is trying to extend the ceasefire between Iran and the USA
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey, announced on Wednesday that his country is working to extend the ceasefire between Iran and the United States and to reduce tensions in the region.
In his speech in parliament, he said that despite existing challenges, Turkey remains hopeful about continuing negotiations and emphasized the necessity of maintaining the diplomatic process.
Erdogan also mentioned regional developments, adding that Israel’s attacks on Lebanon have harmed hopes for peace and that the opportunity created by the ceasefire should be utilized.
He stressed that if the parties focus on the benefits of peace, resolving the complex disputes between them will be possible.
These statements come as the two-week ceasefire between Iran and the USA is still in effect, and simultaneously, reports about the possibility of a second round of negotiations in Pakistan in the coming days have been published.
The first round of these talks was held last week in Islamabad but ended without reaching an agreement, after which a maritime blockade of Iranian ports was initiated by order of Donald Trump.
