The Etemad newspaper states that the government has made significant mistakes regarding the hijab issue.
Many experts pointed out the right path and solution at the very beginning of the late Mahsa Amini’s incident, but not only was there no attention paid, blatant mistakes were made one after another, and now the cost of those significant mistakes regarding the hijab is still being paid on an unprecedented scale.
Certainly, solving an issue is very different from merely dismissing or ignoring it. Even before last autumn’s protests, it should have been understood that the morality police were not a wise response to the issue of women’s attire, and there was always a possibility of a disaster occurring. Decision-makers, who consider themselves crisis experts, should have been able to predict this possibility and prevent it from happening.
Now, if the desired results are not achieved with the extensive propaganda and various actions being taken, and the hijab situation does not return to its previous order, it will only further damage the relationship between officials and the people. Intensifying the confrontations also carries various other risks, which are self-evident.
