Ettela'at Newspaper: Handing Over the Afghan Embassy in Tehran to the Taliban Was Not Correct

The Islamic Republic newspaper stated that handing over the Afghan embassy in Tehran to the Taliban was not appropriate.

The newspaper wrote that handing over the embassy to an illegitimate and terrorist group, in addition to the numerous security risks it entails, will be recorded as a black mark in the history of Iran-Afghanistan relations.

According to the Islamic Republic, this government decision has sparked many reactions, and in addition to media professionals and political activists within the country, the Afghan people have also been surprised by this decision.

In another section, the newspaper wrote that what has astonished political observers both inside and outside the country is that the Islamic Republic of Iran has favored the demands of a group reliant on weapons, which gained control of Afghanistan without elections and through dealings with the United States, and which, after 18 months, has not been recognized by any country, over the will of the Afghan people, who have never accepted this group’s rule as legitimate governance.
