Ettelaat Newspaper: The Law on Criminalizing VPN Use is Not Enforceable

The Ettelaat newspaper says the resolution criminalizing the use of VPNs is unenforceable.

The Ettelaat newspaper wrote that the Supreme Council of Cyberspace has declared the use of VPNs illegal and decided to form a working group to organize the situation of filtering tools, which will include the head of the Cyberspace Center, the country’s prosecutor, the ministers of intelligence and communications, a representative from the Revolutionary Guards, and two real members of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace.

Why do we believe that instead of empowering ourselves in the competitive field of communications and cyberspace, we can achieve results through criminalization, prohibition, and restrictions?

Have we ever benefited or reached prosperity and success from such restrictions, criminalizations, and crackdowns in the past that we are once again resorting to repeating another trial and error?
