EU Foreign Policy Chief: Iranian Government Fears Its Own People

The European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief says the Iranian government is afraid of its own people.

Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief, in response to widespread protests, has said that the people of Iran are fighting for their future, and by ignoring their rightful demands, the regime reveals its true nature.

In a message on the social network X, Ms. Kallas said that the images coming out of Tehran show a disproportionate and highly repressive response by the security forces.

According to this EU official, any act of violence against peaceful protesters is unacceptable.

She also added that when the government cuts off the internet and simultaneously suppresses people’s protests with violence, it shows that they are afraid of their own people.
