The European Union warns that a ban on the sale of drone parts to a number of countries is being considered
Following the disclosure of a 47-page document provided by Ukraine to the seven major industrial powers regarding the use of parts made in Western countries and other sources in Iranian-manufactured drones used by Russia in the war against Ukraine, the European Union warned member countries that a ban on the sale of certain parts to a number of third countries is being considered
According to The Guardian on Thursday, September 28, the warning from the European Commission, the executive arm of the European Union, has been sent to both companies and governments within the union
A spokesperson for the European Commission said that the evidence presented indicates that sanctions need to be applied more strictly and foreign operators should be monitored more closely to ensure that sanctioned goods are not re-exported without the knowledge of European exporters and to prevent sanctions from being circumvented
Based on European Union customs information, the Islamic Republic of Iran has imported almost all the parts needed to manufacture drones from Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Costa Rica
