The President of the European Commission called for tightening the ban on the export of drone and missile technologies to Iran.
On Tuesday, the President of the European Commission proposed imposing further bans on the export of technologies related to drones and missiles to Iran following the bloody crackdown on protesters in the country.
Ursula von der Leyen stated in a message that Europe stands fully with the brave women and men of Iran who risk their lives to demand freedom for themselves and future generations.
Referring to previous sanctions, she said that the European Union had already imposed extensive sanctions against Tehran due to human rights violations, nuclear proliferation, and Iran’s support for Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Von der Leyen added that today they propose to ban more exports of critical technologies related to drones and missiles.
The President of the European Commission also announced that, along with the EU’s foreign and security policy chief, they are preparing a new package of sanctions in response to the continued violent crackdown on protesters by the Iranian government.
