European Parliament Adopts Resolution Calling for More Sanctions on Iran and Labeling the IRGC as Terrorists

The European Parliament passed a resolution calling for more sanctions on Iran and labeling the IRGC as terrorist

In an unprecedented vote, the European Parliament on Thursday passed a resolution against the Islamic Republic of Iran. In this resolution, the European Parliament condemned Iran’s unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel earlier this month and called for more sanctions against Iranian entities.

This resolution, which was passed with a majority of votes, 357 in favor and 20 against, condemns Iran’s attack on Israel as well as attacks carried out by its proxy groups, namely Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen, before and during this aggression, and acknowledges Tehran’s role in destabilizing the Middle East through a network of non-state actors.

This resolution, passed on Thursday, April 26, in the final session before the upcoming European elections, reiterates the previous request to list the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a recognized terrorist organization by the European Union and also calls for the entire Hezbollah to be added to this list.
