The European Troika announced the conditions for delaying the trigger mechanism.
On Friday, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany asked Iran at the United Nations to meet three conditions to delay their threat of reimposing UN sanctions and to create space for negotiations on an agreement that addresses their concerns about Tehran’s nuclear program.
After the end of a closed-door UN Security Council meeting on activating the trigger mechanism, Barbara Woodward, the UK representative to the UN, noted that since 2019, the Islamic Republic has abandoned almost all of its commitments under the JCPOA. She stated that according to the agency’s report, Iran is the only non-nuclear weapon state producing highly enriched uranium.
She emphasized that the three European countries conditionally proposed extending the deadline for activating the trigger mechanism. The conditions were that the Islamic Republic should take specific actions in resuming comprehensive negotiations, adhering to agency commitments, and addressing concerns about its high-enriched uranium stockpiles. However, Tehran did not show any signs of seriousness in this regard.
