Tehran’s special focus on reducing tensions with Beirut: Order to avoid inflammatory remarks about Lebanon
Informed sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Supreme National Security Council told the IranGate news agency that these two institutions have seriously focused in recent weeks on reducing tensions with the Lebanese government and improving bilateral relations with Beirut.
According to these sources, this new approach has been adopted within the framework of a comprehensive security assessment, and the revival of Hezbollah’s status and the non-disarmament of this group are considered strategic and vital for the security of the Islamic Republic of Iran from the perspective of high-level decision-makers. These sources emphasized that regional developments and international pressures have highlighted the necessity of readjusting relations with Lebanon more than before.
Based on the information received by IranGate, in this context, some influential political and media figures have been informally advised to strictly avoid making inflammatory or provocative statements about Lebanon. The purpose of this advice is to prevent sending negative signals to Beirut and to create the necessary groundwork for restoring mutual trust.
A source close to the Supreme National Security Council said in this regard that under the current circumstances, any harsh stance could disrupt the process of managing tensions with Lebanon. The decision is that Tehran’s political messages towards Beirut should be calculated, coordinated, and free from excitement.
According to IranGate sources, the diplomatic apparatus has been tasked with strengthening the dialogue space with the Lebanese government using official and unofficial channels and preventing political differences from turning into a diplomatic crisis.
These developments are occurring while Lebanon is in a sensitive political and security phase, and Tehran is trying to maintain its strategic position and interests in regional equations with a cautious approach.
